INTRODUCTION
We all talk about pollution and climate change, having different views on it, some even ignoring that it is a real thing and destroying our environment, flora, fauna, and our health and living conditions too. But do we know what to do? How to start?
The easiest thing to learn about is the organizations and volunteering opportunities.
Just like this, we have an organization, Plastic Pollution Coalition, a non-profit communications and advocacy organization that connects with different businesses, organizations, and individuals to work to make our environment plastic-free and less toxic.
The organization was founded in 2009 to dispel the indirect terms for plastic pollution, like ‘’marine debris” and litter. It was founded by a small group which is a mix of artists, activists, scientists, and leaders, they all plef=dged to spread awareness about plastic pollution and highlight the solutions, which they have been doing a great job at.
They have been working for over 15 years now to stop plastic pollution, have over 1300 collated member organizations and businesses, have coalition members from 75+ countries, and mobilized 48k+ advocates to sign petitions.
The Earth Island Institute is a non-profit organization, organized and existing under the laws of California is the parent of this project, Plastic Pollution Coalition. Since 1982, Earth Island has been home to all the grassroots cam; signs that are motivated to conserve, preserve, and restore the ecosystem. They have also been providing comprehensive fiscal sponsorship and project support to a big network of activists and social entrepreneurs who are promoting ecological sustainability and environmental justice.
